Travelling to Ljubljana

By Plane

Ljubljana lies nearly halfway between Vienna and Venice. Its location within a convenient two-hour flight from the major European airports makes it a well accessible destination. All flights to and from Ljubljana are operated through the Jože Pučnik Ljubljana Airport, which features a new passenger terminal since spring 2021. The driving distance from the airport to the city centre is 25 kilometres.

Short distances within the car-free city centre area can easily be overcome if you hop on an environment-friendly electric vehicle called Kavalir (Gallant Helper).

Ljubljana's electric-powered vehicles referred to as Kavalirs (Gentle Helpers) are a free city centre public transport option friendly both to people and the environment. Kavalir vehicles are not intended for sightseeing tours but are primarily meant for elderly and mobility-impaired individuals. They drive through the old town center of Ljubljana, which is closed to traffic. Due to their low speed, you can stop them while they are driving, or you can order a ride with them by phone.
